How do we use ceramic implants?
First consultation
How we use ceramic implants in your mouth follows a precise and structured process. During the first consultation we listen to your wishes and expectations. We will discuss your medical health and your medication use with you. In addition, we look at the situation in your mouth and study the possibilities via an X-ray. Based on these findings, we can give you a first impression of the treatment options that are feasible for you. There is also a small vitamin-D test.
Second consultation
In order to gain a clear insight into whether ceramic implants are applicable, we need more radiological information based on a Cone Beam CT scan. After all, this allows us to study your bone volume in the 3 dimensions: thickness, width and height. We can also discover any abnormalities or pathologies. In addition, a mouth scan is also made. With this ultramodern camera we convert your mouth fully digitally into a model. Finally, we link this recording to your CBCT scan.
Planning and drill-gide
Using sophisticated planning software, we finally place the ceramic implants on our computer, based on the desired end result. So it is the crowns or bridges that determine where we place our implants. This allows us to achieve an optimal aesthetic result. In many cases, we opt for optimal security. This can be done by converting the planned simulation into a printed drilling template. It fits perfectly in your mouth and indicates the exact locations (diameter / inclination) of the planned implants. This makes the operation easier and particularly safe.
Surgery
We then place the ceramic implant (or implants) in your jawbone via a minor operation under local anesthetic. Due to the use of the computer-controlled drilling template, the operation does not take long and the re-welding is also very limited. We perform these implant operations in combination with LPRF to improve the result. For that reason, the afterload can also be greatly reduced. Healing
Ceramic implants have to grow into the jaw for a number of months afterwards. Only then are the teeth measured. During this ingrowth phase we prefer little or no load. A temporary crown or bridge is therefore not an option. The healing time differs between the maxilla and mandible because the bone quality is not the same in both jaws. The growth phase in the upper jaw should last 4 months. For the lower jaw, 2 months are sufficient for this because the jawbone is much firmer here.
Prosthetics
We then finish the crown or bridge via a complete digital workflow. We make a digital impression of your mouth using our high-tech mouth scanner. So there are no more annoying impressions with pastes in your mouth. We also determine the color for your crown or bridge digitally via our Ray-Plicker. We even determine your correct bite digitally. After 2 weeks we place the crowns or bridge in your mouth. Finally you can bite as usual!
Hygiene
After placing the crown or bridge, you will receive adapted oral hygiene instruction. This is to ensure that no plaque remains that leads to inflammation. Brushing your teeth alone is not enough, brushing between the teeth / implants with brushes or sticks is also necessary. You should also clean your tongue daily.
Control
Regular check-ups are also necessary to ensure the long-term success of your implants. A few measurements are taken and we take an RX control photo.
